THE ENERGY OF LEO
Leo season brings us back to ourselves. Ruled by the Sun, Leo represents vitality, confidence, creativity, pleasure, and the parts of ourselves we are willing to share with the world. It governs the 5th house: romance, play, children, creativity, self-expression, and the pursuits we choose simply because they bring us joy. Leo reminds us that these are not extras we earn after the serious work is done. They are part of a full life.
As adults, it becomes incredibly easy to build our lives around responsibility. We work. We care for people. We solve problems. We manage our homes, relationships, money, health, and whatever else requires our attention. Somewhere along the way, the things we enjoy can become something we squeeze into whatever time and energy remain.
Leo challenges that.
Pleasure isn't the prize you receive for successfully managing the rest of life. Joy exists alongside responsibility, pain, work, love, loss, and everything else that comes with being alive. We do not have to earn our right to experience it.
This season invites us to notice how much pleasure actually exists in the lives we have built. Are we staying connected to our own desires? Do we let ourselves pursue joy without guilt? Or have we started confusing what is constructive with what is productive?
The New Moon gives us a quiet place to explore those questions. There is nothing illuminated yet. No Full Moon spotlight showing what needs attention. No imperfections demanding correction. No performance. No audience. No comparison. In the dark, there is nothing for us to fix. It's just us, our hopes and dreams, standing in the workshop of our own lives.
This year, that darkness becomes even more significant. The New Moon in Leo arrives with a total solar eclipse, temporarily obscuring Leo's ruling planet, the Sun. A New Moon brings the promise of a beginning while eclipse energy reminds us that endings and changes may be influencing what comes next.
For now, we don't need all the answers.
We can simply begin by remembering what Leo already knows: there is value in doing something because we love it. There is value in play. There is value in pleasure. There is value in creating a life that feels good to the person actually living it.

New Moons mark the beginning of a new lunar cycle. In the darkness, we plant intentions for what we want to bring into our lives and begin giving those desires somewhere to grow. This New Moon complicates that promise of a beginning with a total solar eclipse.
Eclipses are associated with endings, turning points, and changes that can redirect our path. Here, an ending may not simply be making room for something new. It may be influencing what we want to begin in the first place.
Sometimes what we want changes because of what we've experienced. A dream can run its course. Something we worked hard for can turn out differently than we imagined. A relationship, role, responsibility, or chapter can end and change our priorities. Even getting exactly what we once wanted can teach us that we are ready for something more.
This makes the Leo New Moon a powerful time to revisit our desires without judging how they have changed. The person who imagined their future at 20 isn't necessarily the person living it at 40, 50, or 70. We can look at the dreams we once had, what we pursued, what we created, what we left behind, and what still has our heart.
An ending does not always leave an empty space waiting to be filled. Sometimes it changes the person deciding what belongs there next.
